A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. The temporary nature of projects indicates a definite beginning and definite end (-> PMBOK 4)
WBStool is the only free project management software with the work breakdown structure as fundamental diagram for project planning and controlling.

MS Project integration
You can integrate WBStool directly with MS Project. If you open a MS-Project file wile WBStool is started, it automatically generates the WBS structure view. You can edit either this file or the project file – changes are mirrored directly.
For MS Project (2003 or 2007) integration you have to download an additional dll:
Download and save “WBStoolMPP2003/2007.zip”.
Extract “WBStoolMPP.dll” …
The default configuration of MS Project doesn’t fit well for the needs of project managers. There are many functions and adoptions which faciliate the planing process and gives a better project control. The default column bar in MS Project contains some fields which we do not need; other fields are missing. In MS-Project Tips: Adding outline numbers I described, how to add outline numbers to the column bar.
One column which is quite useful, is a shortcut work package description. This shortcut title will be very valuable during work with our project.
Such a field doesn’t exist in the column list of MS Project. Here is how to get it:
1. Right click within the column bar.
2. Select Customize fields.
3. Select Field Text1 and make …
We have done several adjustments to the default settings in our project file. How can we share these settings with other project files?
The customized views have to be transerfed into a file global.mpt. By saving your settings in this file you can define a customized standard for your project presentation.
Follow these steps:
1. Save your customised view under a new name:
2. Open View / More views.
3. Select Copy…
4. Give your view a new name. If you want your new view to appear in the left menu bar, check Show in menu
